The AP Capstone Diploma Program equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone comprises two AP courses--AP Seminar and AP Research—and is designed to complement and enhance the discipline-specific study in other AP courses.Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing receive the AP Capstone Diploma™. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research but not on four additional AP Exams receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™.

Eight members of Habersham Central's Class of 2019 earned the first AP Capstone Diplomas awarded to Habersham County students by the College Board. Recipients of AP Capstone Diploma included Alyssa Adams, Nevaja Brown, Christine Budd, Souliya Chittarath, Cory Gerrity, Matthew Hicks, Kendall McShane, and Mya Sedwick. Six students were awarded the AP Seminar and Research Certificate in recognition of attaining an AP score of 3 or higher in each of those rigorous research-based courses. These students included Josie Benfield, Victoria Blackmon, Lindsey Colbert, Erandy Huerta, Stephanie Kemp, and Alejandro Medina Mora. HCHS students have continued to excel in the AP Capstone Program and many have continued with research opportunities as undergraduate students at their college/university.
